BORN ON A RAINY DAY COLLECTION Events
Billy is an artist, he shares his love for drawing through his infectious style of work. He might not relate into the fashion world, but his an inspiration. The way he expresses his love for individuality and creativity goes unmatched. Pushing us all to embrace our differences despite the circumstances.
Expressing gratitude and enjoyment of life is a key factor from this artwork. Portrayed by color, patterns, movement, dance, instruments and understanding individual rarity cosplayed by ones clothes. Cosplaying his own life through a drawing lens. His relation to Scotland is portrayed clearly by the checkered, twill patterned garments.
The reasonings behind his faceless drawings is blatantly to open doors for individual interpretation. In hopes the viewers can establish a deeper meaning like self awareness and humanity. The times described his work as 'funny' and 'enigmatic" and being linked to comedy.
ANALYZING HIS INTENTION THROUGH IMAGERY
Juggling a number of ways to portray excitement. Particularly, through his own development and growth within his career. He started off from drawing in black and white and now making it full of life and color.
My own conclusion for this would be that his mindset had changed for the better. It shows us how his mind has become more passionate and expressive, this having a tie up with a sense of happiness within his consciousness. Showcasing the fun aspects of his life and in ways he manages to enjoy himself through personal interests like music or dance.
Communicating to the viewer through shapes, lines and humour. He officially began his path of drawing in 2007, after visiting Canada's art shop. Where he left with a handful of supplies, feeling a driven motivation and the burning urge to create.
Over the course of the next five years, he had brought out a few collections like the 'fine art'. Which soon led him to 2012, where the famous 'Born on a Rainy Day' was launched. Still sparking interest and gaining a huge amount of attention to this day.
WHY HAVE I CHOSEN BILLY CONNOLLY
Walking around the streets of Norwich and discovering the Castle Fine art exhibition, I was intrigued to go in and check it out. Despite it not being what I was looking for, it was caught to my attention for the colorful exterior and amusing patterns overlapped of rubber bands on faceless people in art form.
The intention he had created has worked, there was multiple collections inside of many different artists on each wall. But Billy has a way of standing out as his work makes you want to stand there and analyze each of the many details. It's open to many interpretations, making the viewers feel more welcomed and included for being part of a discussion for his creativity.
He has an eye for color matching, knowing what pallets to obey too for each individual piece. I've noticed most of this artwork consists of four colors. This bottom one for instance has blue, white, black and yellow. It works perfect together and the black adds that sophistication and eye for the brightness of the other colors.
